Fields and Hedgerows
Thursday 25 May to Saturday 17 June 2017           

With the coming of spring and the nearing of summer comes the rediscovery of animals and insects in the fields and hedgerows that surround us. Fields and Hedgerows is an exhibition inspired by the magical discovery of the natural world as exemplified in The Witham’s wonderful Storytelling Chair, a commission by local textile artist Glynis Manning.

This exhibition presents an exciting opportunity for artists to display and sell unique works of art featuring animals and insects that might be found in Teesdale fields and hedgerows in an interactive exhibition that will attract many families into the Gallery at The Witham.

In order to keep quality high and achieve a balanced display of work, involvement in the Fields and Hedgerows exhibition is by selection. Artists wishing to express interest in exhibiting in Fields and Hedgerows should send an artist statement and images of, or a link to, their work to art@thewitham.org.uk

The shortlisting process for inclusion in the Fields and Hedgerows exhibition will take place in the week commencing 27 March 2017. Unfortunately we will be unable to consider applications that reach us after the 27 March 2017.


Myths, Legends and Fairytales
Thursday 17 August to Saturday 9 September 2017

Timed to coincide with school summer holidays, Myths, Legends and Fairytales is an exhibition that aims to inspire the imaginations of visitors young and old alike.

This exhibition presents an exciting opportunity for artists to display and sell unique works of art inspired by local, national, and internationally celebrated myths, legends and fairytales in an interactive exhibition that will attract many families into the Gallery at The Witham.

In order to keep quality high and achieve a balanced display of work, involvement in the exhibition is by selection. Artists wishing to express interest in exhibiting in the exhibition should send an artist statement and images of, or a link to, their work to art@thewitham.org.uk

The shortlisting process for inclusion in the exhibition will take place in the week commencing 10 April 2017. Unfortunately we will be unable to consider applications that reach us after the 10 April 2017.


Teesdale Christmas Art Fair
Thursday 9 November to Wednesday 20 December 2017


Following the success of the inaugural Teesdale Christmas Art Fair in 2016 we are delighted to announce dates for the second Teesdale Christmas Art Fair that will take place for a longer period of time giving the media more opportunities to cover the exhibition, and the public more of an opportunity to visit the exhibition.

This exhibition presents an exciting opportunity for artists to display and sell original works of art, and limited edition prints, in the lead up to Christmas in a large, group exhibition that will take place throughout The Witham. The Teesdale Christmas Art Fair will also form part of The Witham's vibrant programme of Christmas activity that sees visitors of all ages flock to the arts centre for activities and entertainment.

In order to keep quality high and achieve a balanced display of work, involvement in the Teesdale Christmas Art Fair is by selection. Artists wishing to express interest in exhibiting in Teesdale Christmas Art Fair should send an artist statement and images of, or a link to, their work to art@thewitham.org.uk

Christmas Arts & Crafts Workshops 2017
Thursday 9 November to Wednesday 20 December 2017

We are looking for proposals from arts workshop facilitators who might be interested in running a one-off or short series of Christmas workshops during the period Thursday 9 November to Wednesday 20 December 2017 in order to coincide with the Teesdale Christmas Art Fair and The Witham's vibrant programme of Christmas activity that sees visitors of all ages flock to the arts centre for seasonal activities and entertainment.

In order to keep quality high and achieve a balanced display of work, involvement in the programme of activities is by selection. Workshop facilitators wishing to express interest in contributing towards the Christmas programme should send a pproposal and images of, or a link to, their work (where applicable) to art@thewitham.org.uk Unfortunately we will be unable to consider applications that reach us after the 4 September 2017.


Northern Shores
Thursday 22 March to Saturday 21 April 2018

Celebrating the beauty of northern coastal areas Northern Shores is a group exhibition of work by regional artists working across all area of fine art.

In order to keep quality high, and achieve a balanced display of work, involvement in the Northern Shores exhibition is by selection. Artists wishing to express interest in exhibiting in this exhibition should send an artist statement and images of, or a link to, their work to art@thewitham.org.uk

The shortlisting process for inclusion in the exhibition will take place in the week commencing 18 December 2017. Unfortunately we will be unable to consider applications that reach us after the 18 December 2017.


Where The Wild Things Are
Thursday 31 May to Saturday 30 June 2018

Where The Wild Things Are is a group exhibition of fine art photography, painting, printmaking, drawing, and sculpture that will reveal the beauty of seeing wild animals in their natural environment. The exhibition will be designed with an interactive element in order to appeal to audiences of all ages.

In order to keep quality high, and achieve a balanced display of work, involvement in the Where the Wild Things Are exhibition is by selection. Artists wishing to express interest in exhibiting in this exhibition should send an artist statement and images of, or a link to, their work to art@thewitham.org.uk

The shortlisting process for inclusion in the exhibition will take place in the week commencing 5 February 2018. Unfortunately we will be unable to consider applications that reach us after the 5 February 2018.
