For more than 150 years, The Witham has been at the heart of Barnard Castle and Teesdale's cultural and community life. We offer all sorts of events – theatre, music, art, dance, film, comedy and classes, in our beautifully refurbished home, that began life as an educational institute, a dispensary, a library and a music hall.
Our café bar and garden are pleasant spaces in which to socialise and meet people. Or you could come in and browse in our box office and shop. And, if you want to hire a venue for a celebration or a party, a market, a memorial, or a meeting – The Witham has lots of great spaces to offer you. The Witham Café Bar
The Witham Café Bar is a warm, friendly place in the award-winning modern atrium that bridges our two older buildings. Licensed day and evening, we serve locally sourced, seasonal lunches and suppers, full afternoon tea, home-baked cakes and scones, as well as evening drinks, snacks and ice cream.
